Why do we need an Access Group?

Newport Access Group was formed some 12 years ago. The group is made up of people both with disabilities and without.

Most large towns and cities have a Disability Access Group, which acts to help provide advice on the access needs of people with disabilities. This is so that easier access can be achieved to the things we need in facilities (such as shops, cinemas, churches, banks etc), as well as to other goods and services.

The group was formed to provide an effective voice in working towards achieving a freely accessible environment for the City of Newport.
